Recently, a colleague of mine drew again my attention on Maxime Gauin. I was not paying attention to this hired pen for a while but my colleague questioned me about the veracity of one of Gauin’s claim on Twitter. As I am not active on social networks, I was indeed completely unaware of this new row. My colleague told me that Gauin is posting inflammatory and hateful comments on Armenians, Greeks and Kurds every days – which I knew – but this one raised his attention.
I previously wrote that “I have no intention to discuss the senseless logorrhea produced by Maxime Gauin on a daily basis because it would be useless and because – honestly – I would not able to do it: actually, Maxime Gauin’s production is such a mix of half-truths, bluff lies, nonsense and off-topic remarks that one cannot but reject it as a whole”. However, I derogate this time to my decision because the case perfectly exemplifies the Gauin’s methodological flaws. Incidentally, “flaw” is probably not the accurate wording because experience shows that Gauin is deliberately attempting (and often succeeding) to mislead non-specialists.
